Description:

Many of you reading this may feel like this season of your life is out of control or beyond your capacity. Let me come alongside you and while we discover together what stability might feel like for you, and it is my goal to help you find a way towards that. I see you as being the only one who can say if something is working in your life or not. You get to take the lead in where we focus our time together. I believe all my clients have the capacity to make lasting changes in their life towards whatever goals of health and wellness they have. I see it as my job to set an atmosphere of comfort and potential.

My counseling passions include: guiding new adults to the world of mental health care, mental health support for new parents, helping clients ‘find themselves’ in dark seasons, finding Neurodiverse(ND) affirming ways of shifting our lives for increased authenticity and efficacy, as well as ADHD support/mentorship. I am passionate about normalizing/destigmatizing neurodiversity, psychoeducation about mental health, mental health support for new parents (of any gender identity) struggling in the first few years of their child’s life, and connecting clients with unknown/hidden resources to give them stability. I believe my clients are the experts on their life and they are in control of how the counseling relationship progresses. I see you as a whole person who lives on an ever-changing spectrum of health and wellness. Counseling is not a curative pursuit but instead a space where you are safe to explore how you manage those emotions/feelings/triggers/habits as life throws you curveballs.

You are valued and needed in your community. If you struggle to believe this, let me help you find that belief again. I am here, just waiting to support you and hear you. You are a unique person with your own story and opinion. I can’t wait to get to know you and witness your growth. As you heal and grow, it is my goal to utilize my support less and less.

This is a Neurodiverse(ND) Affirming space. Neurodiversity is a term that describes the range of neurological functioning in humans and the different ways people experience and interact with the world. It’s not a diagnosis. It is associated as an umbrella term for the following diagnosable* and treatable* conditions: ADHD; ASD; learning disabilities like dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and dyspraxia; tourette syndrome and other tic disorders; sensory processing issues; BPD; OCD; and intellectual disabilities like Down syndrome and Prader-Will Syndrome.

Our therapies aim to create a safe and welcoming environment for neurodivergent(ND) people: presume competence in our clients, strive for and promote our client’s autonomy, respect all communication styles, are informed by ND voices, use a strengths based approach, honor ND culture, and tailor therapy to each client’s individual needs. We do not aim to ‘cure’, reverse or treat away someone’s ND diagnosis, instead we aim to increase our client’s freedom to engage in their life authentically and with agency & dignity.

A little about the ‘who I am’: I am a millennial, a mother, a spouse, and a goof sometimes. I have an ADHD brain and as such can only managing it most of the time. I love to sing, be goofy with my family, cuddle in blankets and watch movies with a good cup of coffee and treats. I understand the struggle of food restrictive diets, as I am GF and DF myself.

A Note on spirituality: While I may have been raised Christian, I have also done extra studies on the applications of faith (of many kinds) on mental health. My familiarity with the Christian faith can help some clients who also identify as Christian, but let me be clear: I am NOT a Christian Counselor. This perspective does not blind me to the ways that other spiritualities support my clients in their growth process and never bring my personal spirituality into sessions unless asked for by clients. I consider myself well-adept at integrating any faith orientation into the treatment goals of each client.

I am now running both a peer-support Free ADHD group, as well as a treatment based weekly ADHD group!

ADHD Lunch Hour: his is a virtual group for ADHD identifying individuals and their support system for exploring the journey of ‘adulting’ with ADHD amongst peers who can identify with (or want to learn about) and affirm our shared beautiful neurodiversity. This space is Neurodiverse affirming and LGBTQ+ accepting. We embrace the way your brain works and encourage you towards simultaneous self-improvement and self-acceptance while navigating the factors that complicate this (culture, societal norms, and personal/institutional expectations). This group welcomes: Family of someone with ADHD, Friends of someone with ADHD, Spouses/Partners of someone with ADHD, People curious to learn about and hear first hand accounts of living with ADHD, and really any “adult” who holds the primary responsibility of managing their symptoms and daily routine (this means some teenagers).

Note on my credentials and Training:
I have finished my ADHD-CCSP (Certified ADHD Professional) training module, and am just awaiting the finishing of my Associate License hours to receive my official Certification. The ADHD-CCSP certification board determines eligibility based upon full licensure and does not find Associates as qualified to receive this certification. My personal training, thorough their program and my own learning, and my experience pre-counseling licensure do not accumulate to the amount of knowledge that quantifies into an amount they can deem as ‘qualifying’ me for this certification yet.
