Getting sober isn’t a single decision—it’s a journey. And for those with ADHD, that path can be especially winding. In this honest, no-shame webinar, ADHD coach and advocate Alan Brown will moderate a powerful conversation with fellow ADHD coach Riley Karbon, who shares her lived experience navigating the complex relationship between ADHD and substance use.
Riley’s story is one of reflection, setbacks, and growth—and it underscores a critical truth: there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to getting sober. Alan will guide the discussion with insight and empathy, drawing out the moments of struggle and strength that define long-term change.
Whether you’re starting to wonder if something needs to shift, supporting someone you care about, or simply want to learn from another ADHDer’s story, this session offers connection, perspective, and hope.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize there is a range of experiences when it comes to substance abuse. Thresholds for quitting vary by individual

Who: Riley Karbon
Biography
Riley was diagnosed with ADHD in 2017 after years of suffering from moldy laundry and email-induced anxiety. Medication helped, but hiring an ADHD coach was so life-changing, she changed careers and became a coach herself! She is currently coaching on the Leadership Team for the Center for Living Well with ADHD. Coming from a decade in non-profit fundraising, Riley continues to have a passion for deep listening, asking curious questions and creating a safe space to talk about the complicated stuff in people’s lives. She has been proudly sober since November 2022.
